Christos Pavlou Architecture studio listens, searches, learns, designs. They are aware of and sensible to the environment, the land parameters, the specific site views, the climate conditions and the needs of our customers. Their projects are distinguished by their formal simplicity, the integration of inside-outside, the contrasting realities and the in-between zones. Studio's architecture is driven by the need of solving a complex program in a simple and clear manner. The language is based on define, simple forms aiming to express the collective memory of a specific culture. Having said that forms do not always provide ready-made solutions but they are rediscovered during the design process. It is a stage by stage approach which allows the build up of different special relationships and smooth transitions between spaces. Energy efficiency, automation technology, sustainability and ecological designs are part of their working procedure. The office has been awarded with the state architecture award 2019 by the president of Cyprus in the category of outstanding architecture.

Fatemeh Salehi Amiri

Fatemeh Salehi Amiri

Fatemeh Amiri received her bachelor’s degree in both architecture and civil engineering at IAU and USC in Iran. In 2017, she obtained her master’s in architecture at the University of Science and Research in Iran. She has just completed her Masters in Advanced Studies in Architecture and Digital Fabrication at the ETH Zurich, 2019-2020. In parallel to her studies, Fatemeh began her professional career at design and construction firms, Ahaab Co. There she trained her design and project management skills both in structure and architecture. As her interest in furthering her knowledge in computational Architecture topics grew, she participated in a series of courses and workshops focus on digital design topics. This learning brought her, in 2017, to establish a company Sizan, specialized 2017 in Tehran, Iran in partnership with Omid Amini.

Lisa Winstanley

Lisa Winstanley

Lisa Winstanley is an Assistant Professor in the School of Art Design and Media. For the past decade she worked internationally as a design educator, however her academic career is also underpinned by over 20 years of commercial experience; working in the UK as a creative practitioner and design consultant. As a visual communicator, Lisa’s work has won many prestigious industry awards including, The World Wide Logo Design Awards (WOLDA) 2019 Gold Award and most recently her branding work has been awarded as one of the top 25 Graphic Designs of 2019 in the International Creative Quarterly best 100 Annual. With further works showcased in exhibitions in New York City, Barcelona, Zurich and Florida's Fort Lauderdale Art & Design Week. Her current research reviews the intersections between ethical and collaborative design practices and pedagogies, though the lens of design for change. She is interested in investigating multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations which allow designers to work together with society, to produce life-centric design solutions for society. Her research reviews what tools can help facilitate such collaborations and what systems need to be in place for effective and meaningful collaboration to transpire. In short, Lisa’s work investigates how we can leverage design collaboratively and ethically for the benefit of our society.
