Rodrigo Kirck

Rodrigo Kirck

Brazil (BR)

I am a restless architect and urban planner, always in search of new challenges. In this search for challenges, I try to challenge everything that is obvious and collective, I always work with other professionals, because I believe that creating new solutions are fundamental in processes with other people. My main achievement was to be awarded internationally with a project reusing conteiners, showing that even working in a city in the interior of my country, it is possible to do different and contribute to the production of design and architecture. I contribute to society by producing knowledge as a teacher in postgraduate programs, being a professional adviser in the national architects' autarchy and by always working in teams with professionals, trainees and clients, in a collective and plural manner. I believe that I become an interesting person when positioning myself in a restless way and always want to look for new ways to see the world and solve problems, be they in design or architecture.

Stéphanie Branco

Stéphanie Branco

Portugal (PT)

Stéphanie Branco is an architect since 2006 and her passion for craftsmanship emerged in 2010 when she made her first pair of shoes, entirely by hand, while working in Paris. Being the 4th generation of craftsman, her passion for craftsmanship runs in her blood. In 2011 she founded ASA Leather Work. In 2016 she came back to Portugal, her homeland, to study Footwear Design and work with as a Production Manager for national & international brands. Later, in a self-taught way, she started practicing the saddle stitch technique and made a wallet for a friend and bags for her. And she never stopped. A true passion was born and the therapeutic feeling of working with her hands was fantastic. She now strives to preserve the hand sew technique “Saddle Stitch”, which is about to disappear in Portugal. Her training in architecture gives her the natural ability to imagine and build her products, as well as attention to detail, maintaining the highest level of quality. She sews, cuts and assembles each piece of leather manually, inspired by the traditional techniques.

Sara Hayat

Sara Hayat

United States of America (US)

Sara Hayat is the founder of Sara Hayat Designs, a modern and artful furniture brand with a signature perspective on shape and luxury material. The Hayat Family has been rooted in fine furniture making since the 1870’s, when Sara’s great-grandfather began manufacturing furniture in Gujrat (Pre-Partition India). Driven by their entrepreneurial passion and skill, M. Hayat & Bros were quickly the leading furniture crafters in the country known for making exquisite, high quality antique reproductions. Since, they have furnished spaces for royals, presidents, prestigious hotels and esteemed clients throughout the world including King George V and President John F. Kennedy, whose famed M. Hayat & Bros. rocking chair from the Kennedy White House was recently sold for $89,600 at Julien’s Auction. Sara was born and raised in Pakistan. Although she was surrounded by artisans, math was more to her liking. Sara attended University of Minnesota where she studied Economics, homing in on what drives human behavior and how people make decisions in both unpredictable and calculable circumstances. Approaching math from a psychological perspective, Sara focused on Options and Derivatives which afforded her the chance to dive deeper into probabilistic thinking in decision making. After graduating from the University of Minnesota in 2013 with a degree in Applied Economics, Sara began a successful career in finance, trading futures and crypto currency. However, the impact of her heritage and her love of design stayed with her. Like many, spending more time at home during the pandemic emphasized to her the importance of space. She began remembering time spent at her grandfather’s factory learning how each detail can shift an experience. As Sara ventures out with her namesake company, she recognizes she is standing on the shoulders of giants but is poised to present her own vision of craftsmanship and the place of furniture in our lives.
